Overwatch 2 Has Great News About New Heroes

Overwatch 2 will no longer be locking new heroes behind battle passes starting with Season 10. When free-to-play hero shooter Overwatch 2 first released in early access, it generated significant controversy for locking new heroes behind its battle passes. While it's always been possible for players to still earn new heroes in the game for free, they were buried deep in the battle pass, so anyone wanting instant access would have to pay.

In a hero shooter like Overwatch 2, it wasn't ideal for the game's health to restrict certain players from being able to access all the game's heroes. This approach has been one of the most consistent complaints levied at the game since its free-to-play revamp, but it will soon be addressed.

When Overwatch 2 kicks off Season 10 in April, it will no longer lock heroes behind its battle passes. All heroes will be available for free, though brand-new Overwatch 2 players will still have to complete challenges to unlock various members of the roster. The new hero Venture will be joining the Overwatch 2 roster in Season 10, and all players will have access to them at the same time. Venture's full reveal will come at a later date, but they are a Damage hero with the unique ability to burrow into the ground.

Blizzard is making even more big changes to Overwatch 2 with Season 10 that should please fans. Along with confirming that it is doing away with the battle pass requirement for new heroes, Blizzard is also introducing the Mythic Shop, which will let players work towards earning seasonal mythics that they may have missed out on from previous seasons. This will go a long way in eliminating FOMO and will allow Overwatch 2 players to earn Mythic Hero skins that they failed to get from Season 1 through the current season.

On top of all that, Overwatch 2 battle passes will start letting players earn coins through the free and premium tracks. Players will be able to earn 600 coins per season for free, up from the previous 540 limit. Weekly
