After the update 3.0.0 in May 2023, players were hopeful that many of the Pokémon who were not in the Paldea region could be transferred into the game through the system. The update to the virtual storage system did allow for over 100 Pokémon to transfer, but it left many, many more that were excluded. This left fans waiting for the DLCs – and – that were reported to come with more updates to add further compatibility, and while there were many missing Pokémon added to the game through the DLCs, very few extras were made transferable that weren't already catchable when playing the DLC.
