Helldivers 2 Players Still Aren't Happy About the Railgun Nerf

The recent changes to the Railgun inHelldivers 2 haven't gone down well in the community, as fans continue to express their dissatisfaction over the adjustments. The Railgun was nerfed as part of the Helldivers 2's 01.000.100 Update, which despite featuring a pretty short list of changes, affected the meta of the game quite significantly.

One of the major highlights of the Helldivers 2 update was the introduction of planetary hazards, which posed a fresh set of environmental challenges for players during deployment. However, what diverted the attention of the fan base away from this welcome addition was the balancing changes introduced as alongside it. Weapons like Breaker and Railgun were nerfed significantly, with the latter becoming significantly less effective against durable enemy parts. On the other hand, lesser-used weapons such as Laser Cannon, Punisher, and Breaker Spray & Pray were buffed to ensure that they were at par with the other weapons in the game. It's been a while since the update was released, but fans still haven't made peace with the revamped form of their favorite weapon.

In a post on the Helldivers 2 subreddit, a player emphasizes why the developer's decision to cripple the Railgun was probably not a good idea. The post explains why the Railgun was so widely used in the first place, as it was considered the go-to weapon against Chargers. However, it is highlighted that since Chargers were nerfed a while ago, the EAT-17 became significantly more effective in dealing with the formidable foes.

The user goes on to add how two shots from the EAT-17 are more than enough to defeat Chargers, something the Railgun was not able to achieve even before getting nerfed. Considering that the nerf to the Railgun effectively made it worse than the other weapons in the game, instead of actually balancing it, the player urges Arrowhead to rethink its decision and to either return the gun to its former state, or at least carve out a new use for it.
