Pokemon GO Player Catches Bagon That's Rarer Than a Shundo

A Pokemon GO player seems to have hit the jackpot by catching an extremely rare shunundo Bagon. While nundos might not be as useful as the much-coveted hundos in Pokemon GO, the fact that they are much rarer makes them a prized possession for collectors.

The Community Days are one of the most popular events in Pokemon GO, considering that they give players a chance to catch some extremely rare shiny Pokemon. Additionally, it's also an excellent opportunity to catch shiny variants of 100% IV Pokemon. While many players were quite jealous of a new player catching a shundo Bagon in Pokemon GO, it seems like another one has got their hands on an even rarer variant.

In a new post on the Pokemon GO subreddit, user kable12105 showcases a Bagon which left them confused about whether they were lucky or not. The dilemma comes from the fact that the Pokemon in question is a shunundo, which is by far the rarest Pokemon in Pokemon GO one can catch of a particular species. Although the Pokemon was caught as part of the Community Day, there are several factors that make catching a shunundo extremely rare.

Hundos are Pokemon with 100% IV stats, while shundos is a term given by Pokemon GO players to hundos which are shiny. Nundos are on the opposite end of the spectrum, having IV stats which are the least possible. That is, they have 0 out of 15 for each of the stats. When they are shiny, they are called shunundos.

If players compare the odds of getting a nundo and a hundo in the wild, that's pretty much the same, standing at 1/4096. However, there are several factors in play that significantly increase the odds of getting a hundo. For instance, Pokemon GO's weather boosts improve the odds by four, while non-wild encounters such as raids, eggs, and others drastically increase it by almost 20 fold.
