Destiny 2 Dev Is Being Harassed After Accidentally Revealing Their Steam Username

A Destiny 2 developer became the victim of harassment after accidentally revealing their username on Steam. What was supposed to be a showcase of new and exciting content coming to Destiny 2 quickly turned into harassment, filling a developer's Steam friend request inbox with racist, violent, and other toxic messages.

Destiny 2 fans were eagerly anticipating a livestream that promised to show off the game's upcoming free content update titled Into the Light. Destiny 2 has continued to stay fresh thanks to Bungie's commitment to rolling out quality updates to the game, with Into the Light being the next evolution of the game. The Bungie team often reveals or comments on future updates, like its recent plans for chat improvements in Destiny 2.

According to The Game Post, the highly-anticipated March 19 Twitch livestream stream devolved into chaos after Bungie Associate Activity Designer Noah Lee unintentionally revealed their Steam username to over one hundred thousand fans. The livestream was supposed to excite players about Destiny 2's Into the Light update but quickly resulted in the developer receiving a plethora of nasty messages, ranging from sexually explicit to racially offensive. The developer revealed their username after accidentally typing Alt+Tab on their computer. This mistake caused the developer to quickly receive dozens of unwanted friend requests. In an instant, over 45 different Steam friend requests were shown as notifications during the stream.

This innocent mistake led to an unbelievable amount of toxicity and vulgarity.
