AMD Zen 5 “Granite Ridge” Ryzen Desktop CPU With 8 Cores & 16 Threads Pictured In Leak
The first alleged picture of AMD's next-generation Ryzen "Granite Ridge" Desktop CPU with 8 cores & 16 threads based on the Zen 5 core architecture has been leaked by @ExperteVallah.
AMD's Zen 5-Powered Ryzen "Granite Ridge" Desktop CPU Allegedly Pictured For The Very First Time, Same IHS As Existing Chips & 8-Core Variant
The picture shows a standard AMD Ryzen CPU with no SKU identifier and a hidden QR code but it is mentioned as an 8-core & 16-thread chip. What's interesting is the OPN ID of 100-000001290-11 as we have seen that leak previously and based on what we know, this could be our very first look at AMD's next-gen Ryzen Desktop CPU family based on the Zen 5 core architecture and is codenamed "Granite Ridge".

A quick look shows us that the AMD Zen 5 "Ryzen" Granite Ridge CPU features the same IHS as the existing Ryzen 7000 & Ryzen 8000G chips. This IHS design is referred to as the octopus and has all capacitors on the outside of the IHS. This is an ES sample so we don't know if the chip uses a solder or TIM based interface between the IHS and the die but high-end Ryzen CPUs are known to feature gold-plating underneath the IHS for better thermal transfer. The chip was made in Malaysia (2024).
The alleged AMD Zen 5 CPU was previously spotted within the Einstein@Home and LHC@home databases. The entries on both databases point out to an 8-core and 16-thread engineering sample & this particular SKU has the following OPN string:
- "AuthenticAMD AMD Eng Sample: 100-000001290-11_N [Family 26 Model 64 Stepping 0]"
It is stated that the reason this CPU could be an AMD Zen 5 chip is because the Family 24 was used for Zen 3 and Zen 4 chips. Zen 5 is said to be part of "Family 25".
More recently, we have seen several AMD Zen 5 "Granite Ridge" Ryzen CPUs being shipped out in shipping manifestos.
We have already seen at least three samples, an 8-core
