World of Warcraft Reveals Plunderstorm Twitch Drop

World of Warcraft just revealed a new Twitch drop campaign to celebrate the release of the new Plunderstorm game mode. From March 22 until April 5, players can earn the bejeweled Fathom pet simply by watching four hours of World of Warcraft on Twitch.

After months of secrecy, World of Warcraft surprised players with a battle royale game mode in Patch 10.2.6 called Plunderstorm. The pirate-themed activity is totally separate from normal World of Warcraft but offers some incredible rewards for fans who dive into the fray.

However, fans won’t even need to touch Plunderstorm to get one reward in particular. World of Warcraft is holding a new Twitch Drop soon to celebrate the new game mode. For two weeks, starting on Friday, March 22, players who watch four hours of World of Warcraft on Twitch can score Fathom, a treasure-laden purple crab pet reminiscent of Tamatoa from Moana. Any stream in the World of Warcraft category will work, though many content creators will undoubtedly be playing Plunderstorm.

Fathom isn’t the first pirate-themed Twitch drop players have seen in Dragonflight. During World of Warcraft Patch 10.1.7, fans could collect the Dashing Buccaneer’s Slops via Twitch. Characters who enter Plunderstorm wear a red and white version of this outfit, so this transmog ensemble ended up being a small teaser for the new Battle Royale mode.

Fans can earn all sorts of rewards in Plunderstorm itself as well. The game mode has a separate Renown track with 40 levels to it, each with some sort of reward, including transmog items, pets, mounts, and even Trader’s Tender. Players can earn progress towards their rewards without winning a game, but those who come out on top can score a special eyepatch and tabard transmog.

Plunderstorm isn’t the only thing coming in Patch 10.2.6. Players will have several new goals to work towards in the patch, including a new World of Warcraft meta achievement that rewards Taivan as a mount. With Dragonflight Season 4 only a few weeks away, fans
