World of Warcraft Classic Previews Sunken Temple Raid for Season of Discovery Phase 3

World of Warcraft Classic just shared a short video previewing the Sunken Temple raid in Season of Discovery Phase 3. This 20-player version of the infamous World of Warcraft dungeon is available in Season of Discovery Phase 3 right now.

The Sunken Temple, also known as the Temple of Atal’Hakkar, is an iconic level 50 dungeon in World of Warcraft known for its labyrinthine design and deadly troll, undead, and draconic denizens. Like most Classic dungeons, the Sunken Temple was revamped in Cataclysm, but many players still remember the sprawling instance as it was in Vanilla WoW.

Now, players will have a brand-new way to experience the Sunken Temple in World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery Phase 3. This version renders the legendary instance as a 20-person raid with eight bosses. Fans will recognize bosses like Jammal’an the Prophet, the Shade of Eranikus, and the Avatar of Hakkar, but will also encounter new ones like the Festering Rot Slime. World of Warcraft recently shared a teaser trailer for the instance on its official Twitter account, but as Phase 3 is officially live in Classic, players can challenge the raid once they reach the new Season of Discovery level cap of 50.

Unlike World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery's Blackfathom Deeps and Gnomeregan raids, the Sunken Temple will have a weekly lockout that resets every Tuesday, rather than a three-day cycle. To compensate, the bosses in the Temple of Atal’Hakkar will drop more loot when players defeat them.

This new raid is the first one in Season of Discovery to be a 20-player instance, but it won’t be the last. World of Warcraft has already revealed that Molten Core is being retooled into a 20-person raid once the level cap is raised to level 60. That said, fans can still expect some endgame raids in Season of Discovery to require 40 players to complete.

Season of Discovery Phase 3 brings plenty of other things for fans to look forward to, including Dual Spec for WoW Classic characters, new
