World of Warcraft Makes Huge Improvements to Plunderstorm

World of Warcraft just increased the Plunder players get in almost every aspect of Plunderstorm. This welcome change makes farming all the rewards in the new World of Warcraft battle royale game mode much easier than before.

Plunderstorm is a new game mode World of Warcraft introduced in Patch 10.2.6. In the frenetic pirate-themed battle royale, 60 players drop into the Arathi Highlands to fight for dominance and collect Plunder, which progresses them through the Renown track to earn special rewards.

Now, less than 48 hours after Plunderstorm was added to WoW, Blizzard has made earning Plunder much easier. Fans will find 50% more Plunder from NPC enemies on the Plunderstorm map, twice as much from golden chests, and five times as much for being the last player or team standing at the end of the match. Additionally, characters drop larger Plunder bounties when they die, the sum of which grows larger the more Plunder they had – though players don’t lose Plunder when they die.

This is a massive improvement over how Plunder was obtained previously. Before this hotfix, World of Warcraft players in Plunderstorm had little incentive to try and win the match, as the most efficient way to gain Plunder was to avoid PvP and farm PvE mobs, or simply complete match quests, die, and start a new game. While these strategies are still viable, gamers who actually come out on top can easily finish games with thousands of Plunder under their belt, rather than a few hundred.

Some players are reporting the increase in PvP Plunder gains has led to more aggression in each match, leading some characters to be knocked out quickly. While this can be frustrating for players who don’t want to fight other players in the World of Warcraft PvP event, they can at least always requeue for another match quickly enough. As fans adjust to these new changes, hopefully they will realize letting these players farm more Plunder first will give them more
