The Last of Us Part II New Comparison Highlights How PS5 Remaster Still Can’t Reach E3 2018’s Demo Heights

A new The Last of Us Part II comparison video was shared online a few hours ago, highlighting how the soon-to-be-released remaster still cannot reach the visual heights seen in the E3 2018 demo.

The comparison, which was put together by Cycu1, highlights how the E3 2018 demo is still superior to even the PlayStation 5 remaster in Fidelity Mode in several ways. While character models are definitely improved, volumetric light and other details, such as how the grass doesn't seem to be affected by the light properly at the 5:41 mark, are a definite downgrade.

Alongside visual improvements and two display modes, The Last of Us Part II Remastered features some additional content, including some cut levels called Lost Levels and the No Return Mode, a roguelite take on the game which further highlights the excellent quality of the gameplay mechanics.

The Last of Us Part II is now available on PlayStation 4. The Remastered release will launch tomorrow, January 19th, on PlayStation 5 and on a yet-to-be-confirmed release date on PC. You can learn more about the original PS4 release by checking out Kai's review.

The Last of Us Part II is bleak and at times leaves the player feeling hopeless as they play through one of the finest crafted pieces of gaming ever to grace a home console. This is one game that people will be talking about for a long time.
