Tekken 8 New Comparison Videos Highlight Visual Downgrade Over Reveal Trailer, Improved Character Models

New Tekken 8 comparison videos were shared online, highlighting how much the game's visuals and character models have changed since the game's original reveal and the previous entry in the series.

The new videos, which have been put together by Cycu1, highlight how the launch version's visuals have been downgraded considerably over the reveal trailer. While the character models for Jin and Kazuya seem to be identical, the changes made to lighting are considerable, resulting in worse visuals in the final release.

The second Tekken 8 comparison video, also by Cycu1, highlights how the character models of all returning characters have been considerably improved, which is no surprise, considering how many years it has been since the release of Tekken 7 and how the new entry in the series is powered by Unreal Engine 5.

While the new entry in the series may not look that different from its predecessor at a glance, Tekken 8 comes with some new mechanics that make it a much more aggressive game. It is only a less-than-stellar online experience that holds the game back a bit, as I highlighted in my review.

Featuring cutting-edge visuals for fighting games and exceptional learning tools, Tekken 8 stands out as one of the best releases in the fighting game genre over the last few years. While the netcode is generally acceptable, regrettably, it falls short of replicating the seamless offline experience, a drawback that significantly affects the overall experience way more than the limited amount of single player content and somewhat diminishes the effectiveness of the game's outstanding learning tools, particularly for those unable to engage in offline multiplayer matches.

Tekken 8 is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S worldwide.
