Stardew Valley Sales Have Surpassed 30 Million Units Worldwide; Free 1.6 Update Releasing for PC on March 19

Stardew Valley sales have surpassed 30 million copies globally across all platforms, the game's creator has revealed.

Designer and creator of the ever-popular farming simulator Eric 'ConcernedApe' Barone took to Twitter some hours ago to celebrate the game's 8th anniversary as well as to announce the release date of the free upcoming 1.6 update (which has been in the works for quite some time now).

As confirmed by Barone on X, the major free content update for Stardew Valley will be released on PC next month on March 19. On consoles and mobile platforms, the update will be released as soon as possible. As covered last month, the update has turned out to be bigger in scope than initially planned, but unlike the previous updates, Barone doesn't want the update on consoles and mobile platforms to be released much later than the PC update.

In addition to announcing the update's release date, 'ConcernedApe' also revealed that, since the game's launch eight years ago, more than 30 million copies of the game have been sold across all platforms worldwide. "With a new update on the horizon, a worldwide concert tour underway, an official cookbook coming soon, and now over 30 million copies sold, Stardew Valley is thriving more than ever", the Stardew Valley creator wrote on X. "As always, I'm eternally grateful to the players (you!) for making all of this possible."

Quite the achievement for Barone and his Stardew Valley. The farming sim is available worldwide now for PC, consoles, and mobile devices. The upcoming 1.6 update will feature "secrets", a new festival, new items, and more. In addition, it was revealed that this free content update will be appreciated by modders, although no further details on that have been shared just yet.
