RPCS3 PS3 Emulator Now Runs GT5 at 60FPS, Performance Improvements for Killzone 3 and More

The latest builds of the RPCS3 PS3 emulator can run Gran Turismo 5 at 60FPS and packs improvements for various AAA titles.

The RPCS3 team shared the improvements to the popular PlayStation 3 emulator through a new development video in which it shows notable changes over the past two years. As can be seen in the video, Gran Turismo 5 runs and looks great on a high-end system, and players can even bypass the game's 60FPS cap through a separate framerate patch. The video also shows the improved performance within Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, inFamous, and Killzone 2 as well as rendering improvements in Demon's Souls and God of War 3. In addition, the video shows how performance and breaking visuals within Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time have been addressed. Another improvement that has been implemented in the recent RPS3 builds is the fixed Async texture streaming performance on NVIDIA GPUs in Guerrilla's Killzone 3. As can be seen, performance has been greatly improved due to this fix. Some years ago, the team already implemented mouse and keyboard support for the Killzone entry.

Check out the new development video below:

"It's certainly been awhile since our last Major Improvements video, in this new showcase we go over some of the more notable changes to RPCS3 over the last two years", the team writes. "However we cannot cover everything and many other notable features such as savestates, or a myriad of games that became playable were not shown. We hope that by showing the date each game improved we can re-assure our audience that despite no videos being released our developers have continued to deliver consistent updates to RPCS3."

The latest version of the open-source RPCS3 PlayStation 3 emulator can be downloaded on the project's official website here. As always with these emulators, you'll need to own a copy of the original
