Epic Games is reportedly working on a major new Fortnite update. According to new information, a new feature geared toward social media integration will be added to Fortnite soon, allowing users to link their accounts across various social media platforms.

Epic Games continues to update Fortnite on a consistent basis, giving both new and returning players something to enjoy. Fortnite is currently in the midst of Chapter 5 Season 2, which brought several new skins and characters as well as dozens of new locations to explore. Epic Games also develops special, limited-time events that keep Fortnite fresh, with Fortnite OG being one of the most successful events the game has seen since its release in 2017. However, an upcoming update may fundamentally change Fortnite forever.

A dataminer has discovered that Epic Games is working on bringing a picture-in-picture mode to Fortnite, a popular tool found in mobile apps like YouTube, allowing users to watch videos in a smaller window as they continue to use their device. Following Fortnite's V29.20 update earlier this month, reliable leaker HYPEX uncovered that new files in the game hint toward a possible picture-in-picture mode becoming a reality within the game. HYPEX states that Epic Games is currently working on a new feature «where you can link your Fortnite account to some platforms and watch videos while playing.» Epic Games is always looking at new features for Fortnite, with this one having major implications for the game's future.

Hypex speculates that a variety of social media platforms may be supported by the new feature, one of which is TikTok.
