Silent Hill 2 Remake “Release Date and Platforms” To be Revealed in the Near Future

When are we finally going to get a release date for the Silent Hill 2 remake? The game is widely expected to launch sometime in 2024, but PR from Konami has been spotty at best. We got a somewhat-questionable trailer back in February (that even developer Bloober Team criticized as not representative of the final game) and as we head deeper into the year, there’s still a lot to be nailed down. The game’s been rated by the ESRB and there are rumors it may pop up at a PlayStation Showcase next month, but Konami themselves have remained silent.

Well, we've received a new sliver of hope from Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno during a recent earnings call for the studio. He again indicated Silent Hill 2 is almost done, and that we’re going to be hearing about the game soon...

"We are in the final stages of work on Silent Hill 2. It can be expected that more marketing materials will be released in the near future with the release date and the platforms on which the game will appear.”

Well, okay, that’s certainly good to hear. I’m sure some will also be quick to seize on the “platforms on which the game will appear” line. Up until now it’s been implied the new Silent Hill 2 will be a PC and PS5 console exclusive, although Konami hasn’t actually provided that much confirmation of that. Then again, sometimes there are slips of the tongue on these earnings calls and there’s always the language barrier to consider, as the above quote was provided in Polish and translated into English. Hopefully Konami finally emerges from its cave and confirms everything soon!

Haven’t been keeping up with Silent Hill 2? The aforementioned ESRB rating provided hints the story may be changing a bit and it seems James Sunderland may have been updated to look more like his original self in recent months.
