RTX Remix Toolkit Updated by NVIDIA with Many QoL Features

A few hours ago, NVIDIA updated the RTX Remix toolkit with several quality-of-life features that had been requested by the modding community:

  • RTX Remix now verifies the existence of a top-level mod.usda layer in your project, alerting modders if it's missing.
  • Project-specific layer selections are now retained upon project closure and reopened, facilitating a smoother workflow.
  • Automatic detection and correction of incorrect layers as edit targets have been implemented, accompanied by a warning in the viewport.
  • Enhanced functionality to duplicate, copy, and paste lights within the selection tree.
  • Ability to copy and paste attributes across assets, including position, rotation, scale, and material properties.
  • Addition of a hardware check to identify unsupported GPUs, aiming to mitigate crashes and critical issues encountered by modders.
  • Expanded compatibility of RTX Remix Texture Tools to include JPEG files.
  • Introduction of inference modes in RTX Remix Texture Tools, offering a choice between speed and quality optimization.
  • Inclusion of the latest RTX Remix Runtime version (v. 0.4.1) with this update.
  • In our prior RTX Remix build, we allowed users to adjust the XYZ scale of a light, but it effectively did not function properly. We’ve redesigned it to enable users to somewhat shape their lights. Manipulating the scale for lights will now multiplicatively apply to the radius of that light.
--For cylindrical lights and sphere lights, whichever number is largest amongst the XYZ scale will multiply the radius
--For disk lights, shaping is controlled by the X and Z scaling factors
--For rectangular lights, shaping is controlled by the X and Y scaling factors

The toolkit update also delivered a few bug fixes. The functionality of the F hotkey has been tweaked to ensure consistent object focusing regardless of the position of the cursor. Compatibility issues with multi-GPU setups, such as laptops with integrated and dedicated GPUs, have been resolved. Moreover, the default light
