RPCS3 “PS3” Emulator Adds Support For AMD Zen 5 CPUs

AMD Zen 5 CPUs such as Ryzen 9000 or Ryzen AI 300 will be able to game on RPCS3 "PS3 Emulator" without any compatibility issues.

With the latest V.0.0.32-16742 RPCS3 emulator, users can run PS3 games on AMD Zen 5 CPUs without any issues

RPCS3, the popular 13-old emulator for PlayStation 3 games has now received the latest update for running on computers using upcoming AMD Zen 5 CPUs. In a recent post on X, RPCS3 announced that starting from their RPCS3 v0.0.32-16742, their emulator will now be able to support hassle-free gaming on Zen 5-based chips.

As some users already got their hands on the Ryzen 9000 SKUs, it became important to provide an update since the emulator faces instabilities on newer hardware. To address the issue, users with the version mentioned above or newer will be able to run the PS3 games with no issues. However, no performance boost is mentioned since RPCS3 has its limits, which don't necessarily increase performance on higher-end PCs.

RPCS3 is highly CPU-dependent and needs good optimizations to run smoothly. Hence, even if your system is running on a high-end GPU, your CPU needs to support the emulator perfectly, provided you also optimize the emulator settings to run games smoother. The emulator can run on all three major OS, namely: Windows, Linux, and macOS. Users planning to get a AMD Zen 5 CPU-powered system are going to use the emulator on either Windows or Linux OS, which is why the latest versions of the emulator have been made available for both operating systems.

At its current state, RPCS3 can boot many games and can play many without any stability issues. However, there are quite several titles that still don't pass the boot state or have performance issues. With the newer AMD Zen 5 CPUs, users will be able to run the games with equally good stability as on Zen 4-based systems.
