Quiet Steam Update May Have Just Revealed The Next Resident Evil Remake

As fans eagerly await news on Capcom's next remake, a recent update to one of the older games on Steam may shed some light as to what players can expect. is known as one of the most iconic video game series of all time, spawning all kinds of spin-offs and adaptations across comics, novels, movies, and streaming series. The games are so well regarded that Capcom was able to pull out some of the titles that haven't aged all too well and turned them into modern masterpieces with its excellent series of remakes.

Per u/Koduy2 on Reddit, it would appear that, based on a recent Steam update, is the next game in line to be remade for modern audiences. The game's listing on SteamDB has recently been changed on several occasions, with one alteration tweaking its title to, a naming convention that was used to tweak the original ahead of the announcement of that game's remake in 2022. Capcom has yet to announce a remake of the fifth mainline game but the SteamDB update has been enough to spark speculation.

While basing the existence of a video game project on nothing but a SteamDB listing may be a touch excessive, Capcom has kept to a trend when it comes to its recent string of remakes. Since 2019, the studio has released updated versions of (2020), and, most recently, (2023). The community speculates that if this trajectory is anything to go by then a remake could be in the works and an announcement may be made in the coming months.
