PS5 Pro Support Confirmed for Horror Game Retrieval

Alongside the announcement of the PS5 Pro, Sony confirmed thirteen games that will be optimized for the new console: Alan Wake 2, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, Demon’s Souls, Dragon’s Dogma 2, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Gran Turismo 7, Hogwarts Legacy, Horizon Forbidden West, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, The Crew Motorfest, The First Descendant, and The Last of Us Part II Remastered.

Of course, this is only a preliminary list, and many more will be confirmed throughout the coming weeks. One more can already be added to the list: it's the upcoming horror game Retrieval. Originally announced at Gamescom 2023, the game received a new trailer at Gamescom 2024. At the same time, it was added to the Steam and PlayStation stores for wishlisting and quickly passed the milestone of 20K users adding the game to their wishlists.

Following the reveal of the PS5 Pro, Barcelona-based developer 333Studios confirmed some of the improvements players will see when playing the game on the more powerful console.

While Retrieval will look stunning on the PS5, the PS5 Pro version will offer even better visuals and smoother gameplay. Here’s a breakdown of what to expect:

Improved Graphics: Expect sharper resolution with the newly announced PSSR technology, more detailed environments, and higher fidelity ray-traced reflections.

Higher Frame Rates: The PS5 Pro will push Retrieval to run at higher, more stable frame rates, ensuring smoother gameplay and more responsive controls.

The studio even provided a preliminary screenshot comparison between the base PS5 and the PlayStation 5 Pro version.

Retrieval is set on a distant planet where protagonist Hana Loshe gets stranded in a subway base, uncovering all sorts of secrets and terrifying creatures within. The Dead Space inspiration seems pretty clear. The Gamescom 2024 trailer (embedded below) showed off NVIDIA
