FFXVI Fix Mod Adds Ultrawide Support, FOV Slider, and Unlocked Frame Rate in Cutscenes

Less than a day following the PC launch of Final Fantasy XVI, modders have already come up with a so-called FFXVI Fix mod that improves some key shortcomings, such as:

General

  • Disable the 30FPS cap in cutscenes/photo mode.
  • Adjust gameplay FOV.
  • Allow frame generation in cutscenes.
  • JXL screenshot quality option and fixes hitching while taking screenshots.
  • Allow the use of motion blur + frame generation.

Ultrawide/narrower

  • Remove pillarboxing/letterboxing in borderless/fullscreen.
  • Fixed HUD scaling with configurable HUD size.
  • Fixed FOV scaling at <16:9.

To install the FFXVI Fix mod, download the file from Nexus (or GitHub) and extract the zipped file's contents to the main game folder. To adjust settings, tweak the FFXVIIFix.ini file. The mod also works on Linux/Steam Deck. In this case, open up the game properties in Steam and add "WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%" to the launch options.

This isn't the only mod available on Nexus for Final Fantasy XVI. Other useful options include a mod to toggle UI and/or HUD on and off (with two presets of visibility), a mod that increases the item limit on all standard items to 9 (higher values prevent the game from booting, apparently), and a couple of ReShade presets that changes the colors.

Many more mods will undoubtedly follow, and Producer Naoki Yoshida is crossing his fingers that they won't be offensive or inappropriate.
