Arkane founder says Skyrim is an immersive sim, and Baldur's Gate 3 is 'immersive sim-adjacent'

WolfEye, the studio founded by Dishonored co-creator Raphael Colantonio, has a new game coming out. It's apparently a first-person immersive sim with a structure between Prey and Fallout: New Vegas, and that's exactly the kind of thing we at PC Gamer HQ need to hear to rev up the hype engines.

Geralt's voice actor confirms he'll be in the next Witcher, but not as the main character: 'Geralt will be part of the game'

File this under «things we already knew but which are nice to have confirmed.» In a recent video for Fall Damage, Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt in all of CD Projekt Red's games, explained our favorite gruff monster-slaying dad guy will be back for the next game in the series.

Here's what Karlach and Astarion get up to if you leave them at camp: Joining a D&D actual-play show

I can't imagine why you'd leave both Karlach and Astarion out of your party, unless your version of Tav, the hero of Baldur's Gate 3, is some kind of obscene rogue/barbarian multiclass who has both their specialties covered. That's what happened at GenCon's live Dungeons & Dragons show, however, when voice actors Samantha Béart and Neil Newbon explored what their characters get up to when they wander off on their own, live on stage with Dungeon Master Aabria Iyengar and fellow players Anjali Bhimani (DesiQuest) and Brennan Lee Mulligan (Dimension 20).

Vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz once endorsed a high school Valorant team

When US presidential candidate Kamala Harris announced Minnesota governor Tim Walz as her running mate, it meant something different to the varsity Valorant esports team from Apple Valley High School in Minnesota. It meant they'd now been endorsed by the man who might soon become the vice president of the USA.

A codenamed Valve project found in a voice actor's résumé has Half-Life fans putting on the clown makeup yet again

It's that time again. A leak, this time via the résumé of a videogame voice actor, has led to another rumor that Valve is working on a new Half-Life game.

Jody Macgregor - Crafting in crafting games may suck, but it seems surprisingly decent in the updated rules for Dungeons & Dragons of all things - pcgamer.com

Crafting in crafting games may suck, but it seems surprisingly decent in the updated rules for Dungeons & Dragons of all things

I agree with Lauren Morten, who wrote that somehow the worst part of crafting games is the crafting. I've never interacted with a crafting bench and thought it was a worthwhile use of my time, and punching trees is boring. I noped right out of Valheim at the point where it expected me to care about making roof tiles that were the right shape to assemble over my drafty hovel.

Don't expect Dragon Age: The Veilguard before October at the absolute earliest

BioWare has been vague on the release date of its upcoming pansexual dwarf-romance simulator Dragon Age: The Veilguard, saying only that it'll be out in autumn this year. We can now narrow that launch date a wee bit further, as publisher Electronic Arts has updated its quarterly report to give Dragon Age: The Veilguard a Q3 release—meaning it should be out between October 1 and December 31—as spotted by Eurogamer.

Mortal Kombat 1 is getting animalities, the T-1000, Conan, and Ghostface from Scream

I do like a NetherRealm fighting game story mode, and the upcoming expansion for Mortal Kombat 1, Khaos Reigns, is adding to the narrative with the return of Havik—though this time, a Havik from an alternate timeline. I don't expect to understand what's going on, but I do expect to see a bunch of gratuitous slow-motion martial arts and eviscerations, and that's always a good time.
