From Software president Hidetaka Miyazaki has said he’d “love more players to be able to enjoy” Bloodborne.
FromSoftware's launchedin 2015 and was highly praised for showcasing what the then-new PlayStation 4 was capable of during players' exploration of a blood-drenched gothic world. Surprisingly, it has remained one of the few major PlayStation exclusives of that generation not to be ported elsewhere, despite fan demand for a "" patch for the current PS5 console and a PC release.
As I was wrapping up an interview with FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki for PC Gamer's Shadow of the Erdtree cover story, I knew I couldn't walk out of the conference room we'd been sitting in for more than an hour without asking The Question. You know the one: it's been front of mind for PC gamers during every single major livestream and gaming event since Sony started putting its games on Steam. Bloodborne on PC when?
Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is almost here, ahead of our journey into the Land of Shadow, game director and FromSoftware boss Hidetaka Miyazaki has been speaking about the creation of the expansion's map, and it sounds like it might feel pretty different to the vast open world of the Lands Between.
Ahead of the launch of Shadow of the Erdtree, the first and only expansion to Elden Ring, PC Gamer interviewed game creator and FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki and asked whether the development team was aware of how many players had to use guides to complete their games, and if it changed anything in their design plans.
As we noted in our preview of Shadow of the Erdtree last week, the expansion's new map is notably different from the Lands Between, which we explored in Elden Ring. It's smaller, yes, but also denser with enemies, activities, and notable locations, and not quite so simple to navigate. You'll find more cliffs, valleys, and bridges blocking off new areas you may have first thought you'd be able to gallop to.
Bandai Namco has a friendly FYI for all the Elden Ring players out there: The big Shadow of the Erdtree expansion arrives on June 20, which is less than two weeks away, and an awful lot of you have work to do before you're ready to take it on.
Raise your hand if you've played through a FromSoftware game without using a guide. If your hand's up, you're a rare and impressive bird, clearly suited to a life of luxury in some billionaire's menagerie. I can't think of a developer I associate more heavily with online guides and wikis than FromSoftware. While it's certainly possible to beat their games without outside help, I think the vast majority of players look up weapons, NPC questlines, boss strategies, even basic item descriptions to better piece together what the heck is going on in Dark Souls or Elden Ring.
