New Starfield Update is Bad News for PS5 Gamers

A long-time insider has claimed that neither Microsoft nor its subsidiaries are currently working on a PlayStation 5 port for Starfield. The news comes after previous rumors that Starfield may come to PS5 following Xbox's new cross-platform strategy with certain exclusives.

In February, multiple insiders claimed that Starfield would join other Xbox exclusives, like Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves, in jumping to PlayStation 5 in the near future. While the speculation surrounding the latter two games turned out to be true, Xbox's Phil Spencer stated that Bethesda's Starfield and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle would not join the other exclusives in going multi-platform. The same insiders have since walked their Starfield claims back, saying that it was nothing more than an incorrect rumor. While some fans are still hoping for the rumor of a Starfield port to be true and just in its early stages, another insider seems to have supported its inaccuracy.

Some may have already expected this to be the case after Starfield didn't join Pentiment, Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, and Sea of Thieves in being announced for multi-platform releases. However, if true, this claim combined with Spencer's previous comments would solidify the possibility that Starfield will remain an Xbox and PC exclusive for the foreseeable future.

PlayStation fans can still look forward to the release of other Xbox exclusives on Sony's platform, like Hi-Fi Rush on March 19, Grounded on April 16, Sea of Thieves on April 30, and Pentiment, which is already available. It's still unclear when or if another wave of Xbox exclusives going
