New Pokémon TCG Set Has Hardest Pull Rates For Hyper Rares & Special Illustration Cards Yet

The long-running 's latest set, has some of the hardest pull rates for Hyper Rare and Special Illustration cards yet, according to new data. was released on March 22, 2024, and are derived from their Japanese equivalents from the and sets that were released in January. The set is made up of 218 total cards, 161 of which come from the main set, and 56 that are secret rare cards, and reintroduced the ACE SPEC mechanic from the set to the game.

As shown in data from TCGplayer on Instagram, the pull rates for are the hardest of the block for Special Illustration Rares and Hyper Rares. TCG Player used a sample size of over 8,000 booster packs and stated that Hyper Rares are now found in 1 out of 139 packs, and the odds of getting Special Illustrations are 1 in every 86 packs.

According to this data, ' pull rates for Hyper Rares and Special Illustration cards are almost twice as hard as the 's previous set, . In, the pull rate for Hyper Rares was 1 out of 82 packs, but in previous sets, this was 1 in approximately 54, which is far more common than ' whopping 1 in 139 rate. This is the same with the rate for Special Illustration cards, which were previously in 1 out of 47 packs, and 1 out of 32 packs in earlier sets.

Fortunately, the pull rate for all the other rarities in remains the same as in previous sets. Double Rares have a hit rate of 1 out of 6 packs, Ultra Rares are in 1 out of 15 packs, and regular Illustration Rares are in 1 out of 13 packs. Even though Special Illustration and Hyper Rares are now much rarer, with the possibility of pulling ACE SPEC cards from packs, the overall effect of pulling a “” is mitigated if ACE SPEC cards are counted as something special, letting players trade their ACE SPEC cards to players for Special Illustration and Hyper Rares instead.
