Xbox's Latest New Feature Makes Game Pass Ultimate An Even Better Deal

Xbox has added a new feature to Xbox Cloud Gaming that could make the overall Game Pass Ultimate subscription a far greater deal for players. While there are separate Game Pass tiers for consoles or PC players with slightly different libraries, the Ultimate subscription grants access to Game Pass across both, along with the option to stream titles rather than downloading them both at home and on the go through Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Cloud Gaming was clearly designed with console players in mind, with its user interface mirroring that of the Xbox and its favoring of controllers. A new, highly requested feature will make Xbox Cloud Gaming even more accessible for some PC players, however, making for a better deal across all Game Pass subscribers.

For many PC gamers, using a keyboard and mouse is the optimal way to play certain games, such as first-person shooters, role-playing games, and real-time strategy titles, so many were hopeful that Xbox Cloud Gaming would eventually have some kind of compatibility for this method. Previously, titles such as could be played with a keyboard and mouse through Cloud Gaming, but only via supported web browsers — Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome on Windows, and Safari on iOS devices — and not the Xbox app itself. This led to a weird disconnect for those playing titles such as on the PC Xbox app, as they were immediately restricted to using a controller if they chose to stream via Cloud Gaming.

Fortunately, as reported by Eurogamer, Microsoft is finally implementing such a feature. Currently, Xbox Insider members have been invited to test new keyboard and mouse support features via the early Alpha Skip-Ahead ring, with a view to roll this out to more players in the future. Only a few games offer mouse and keyboard support during this testing stage, but this is expected to grow upon the feature's main roll-out.

The full list of Xbox Cloud Gaming titles with keyboard and mouse support is as follows:
