New Monster Hunter Wilds weapon overview trailers released

Capcom has released two new weapon overview trailers for Monster Hunter Wilds.

The short gameplay video above shows off the Insect Glaive, while the video below features the Heavy Bowgun.

The former is a mobile weapon players can use while controlling a creature known as a Kinsect.

Capcom said Insect Glaive users can gain powerful buffs by harvesting extracts from monsters, and vault into the air to perform jumping attacks at will.

The Heavy Bowgun is a long-range weapon with auto and manual guard functions.

An Ignition Mode lets players fire special ammo at the expense of energy, which is replenished over time and when enemies are successfully targeted.

The new videos are the latest in a series of Monster Hunter Wilds overview trailers being released by Capcom.

These include a rundown of some basic movement and combat mechanics, including Slinger functions, and abilities while riding a Seikret, a mountable monster that can automatically guide players to their next target.

Another video published this week shows a new mechanic called Focus Mode, which enables players to carefully aim attacks or guards. It also highlights enemy wounds which can be targeted to deal extra damage, as well as any weak points monsters have exposed.

Each weapon in the game has a unique Focus Strike, a special attack available during Focus Mode. Hitting a monster’s wound with a Focus Strike will destroy it, dealing significant damage and stunning the beast.

Featuring cross-play support, Monster Hunter Wilds will be released for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2025.
