MultiVersus Release Date Reveal Teases New Characters & Stages

After nearly a year since ' beta came to a close, Player First Games is back with an exciting new update regarding Warner Bros.' platformer fighter. When first launched into early access in 2022, the game surprised everyone with its distinct personality, fun mechanics, and tight control scheme, proving to be a resounding success in a genre that's largely been dominated by . The developer has been hard at work over the last few months and the latest update video reveals exactly what fans want to know about the upcoming 1.0 release.

Posted to X (formerly Twitter), the account shared a video of director Tony Huynh addressing the game's future while explaining what's changed since the game closed the doors of its beta testing.

The biggest announcement is that will finally launch on May 28 and the 1.0 version will include several substantial additions. Huynh shared some sneak peeks at what's to come, highlighting the return of the beloved character Marvin the Martian, alongside some reworks of several characters like The Tasmanian Devil and Wonder Woman.

Aside from Marvin the Martian, Huynh also spotlighted some in-development stages that hint at who else could be joining . Based on concept art that's revealed in the video, it seems safe to guess that The City of Townsville and Dexter's Laboratory are two new arenas in which players can duke it out, suggesting that The Powerpuff Girls and Dexter himself could be some of the next playable characters coming to the game. Beyond these future additions, the director confirmed that ' 1.0 version is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and its netcode has been completely overhauled.
