Lollipop Chainsaw RePop gets its first trailer and a September release date

The first trailer for Lollipop Chainsaw RePop has been revealed alongside a release date for the game.

It will be released digitally on September 25, 2024, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePop is a remaster of the 2012 Grasshopper Manufacture action adventure game Lollipop Chainsaw, which sees players step into the shoes of chainsaw-wielding cheerleader Juliet Starling.

It’s being handled by Dragami Games, and neither original creative director Suda51 nor co-writer James Gunn has been involved in the project.

“The physical version will also be available worldwide,” Dragami Games founder and RePop producer Yoshimi Yasuda said today. “Please wait for future announcements.”

The remaster lets players choose between an Original mode, which is based on the original game, or RePop mode, which includes less violence and uses pop-art damage effects.

“RePop is a definitive version of the game which leaves the story unchanged, with the focus on quality of life improvements and additional gameplay content,” according to the description accompanying its debut trailer.

Earlier this week, VGC published an interview with Grasshopper Manufacture CEO Goichi Suda, which covered topics including Switch 2, Twin Peaks, and his wish to remaster more back catalogue games like Killer7.
