Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree launch trailer arrives ahead of Friday’s release

Bandai Namco has published the launch trailer for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, which is viewable above.

The expansion will be released on Friday for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam.

Players will require the base game to play the DLC, which is available to pre-order in several editions, with prices starting at $39.99 / £34.99.

“Guided by Empyrean Miquella, players are beckoned to the Land of Shadow, a place obscured by the Erdtree where the goddess Marika first set foot,” reads a description of the expansion on Elden Ring’s official website.

“In these strange new lands, players discover the dark secrets of the world as they meet others who follow in Miquella’s footsteps with ulterior motives.”

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is the highest-rated DLC of all time, according to review aggregation site Metacritic.

“Shadow of the Erdtree is an incredible expansion and a worthy follow up to the generation’s best game,” VGC said in its review.

From Software said this month that Elden Ring has shipped over 25 million copies since its release in February 2022.

Studio president Hidetaka Miyazaki recently ruled out making a second Elden Ring expansion, but left the door open for a potential sequel.
