Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is releasing in September for $60 / £50

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed will be released in September, according to various product listings for the game.

Publisher THQ Nordic announced an “enhanced remake” of 2010’s Disney Epic Mickey in February.

At the time, it said the action-adventure game would be released this year for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.

With Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed pre-orders going live today, Steam and Xbox are listing a September 24, 2024, release date for the title.

The game’s PS5 release date is listed as September 23 on the PlayStation Store, while other marketplaces like the Nintendo eShop are UK retailer Game are just listing a 2024 launch window.

The game is available to pre-order for $59.99 / £49.99 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and Switch.

Released as a Nintendo Wii exclusive, Epic Mickey offered a darker take on a Mickey Mouse story, in which Mickey visits the Wasteland, where forgotten Disney characters live.

It also marked the return of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, a Walt Disney creation whose IP had recently been acquired by the company from Universal.

Epic Mickey was developed by the now-defunct Junction Point Studios and directed by Deus Ex creator Warren Spector. According to THQ, Spector assisted on the remake, which has been developed by Purple Lamp in collaboration with Disney Games.

“I’ve received more heartfelt fan mail from players of all ages about Disney Epic Mickey than any other project I’ve worked on – a true indicator of the timelessness of this game,” Spector said when Rebrushed was announced.

“That my team and I contributed to that legacy is truly an honor and I’m delighted that old fans and new will get to enjoy the adventures of Mickey and Oswald in Wasteland once again.”
