iPhone SE 4 Display Orders Are Being Fought By Samsung And BOE, With Apple’s Low-Cost OLED Model Scheduled To Launch In 2025

The iPhone SE 4 will be Apple’s first low-cost offering to transition from an LCD to an OLED, matching the company’s other high-end devices, but buyers will have to muster up sufficient patience because this particular model is slated to launch sometime in 2025. Thankfully, the company will not have to fret over the display cost of the iPhone SE 4 since Samsung and BOE are reportedly fighting over orders.

The display is one of the most priciest components of a smartphone, with Qualcomm’s 5G modem being another. These factors have likely prevented Apple from pursuing a launch, but according to The Elec, the iPhone SE 4 is said to materialize next year. With the affordable handset switching to an OLED panel, it will cost Apple slightly more than when it had to source IPS LCD screens. Luckily for the technology giant, Samsung and BOE are duking it out to see which supplier strikes a deal first.

The iPhone SE 4 is rumored to tout a design similar to the iPhone 14, and though its OLED panel will not support ProMotion technology, it will produce more vibrant colors and deeper blacks and exude a better gamut than what an LCD could ever hope to achieve. Samsung and BOE have provided their quotes in between the $30 to $40 range for the low-cost model, but the Korean giant apparently has the edge since it is said to offer Apple the most affordable price at $30 apiece, whereas BOE has set its limit at $35.

Tienma, A Chinese display manufacturer, has offered the most expensive price for the iPhone SE 4 component at $40. Given Samsung’s past trading history with Apple and the fact that it is supposedly providing the lowest quote, it is possible that the Korean giant receives the bulk of the orders, followed by BOE.
