Indie developer makes his game free after being told Warner Bros will be delisting it

An indie developer has made his game free after learning that it will soon be delisted.

Owen Deery, who develops games as one-man studio Fire Face, released his game Small Radios Big Televisions in November 2016 on PC and PS4.

The game was published by Adult Swim, which is now owned by Warner Bros Discovery.

However, Deery now says he has been informed by Warner that his game will soon be delisted, and will no longer be available to buy.

To combat this, Deery has made the PC version of the game available to download for free on his website.

“WarnerBros Discovery have informed me they will be ‘retiring’ my game Small Radios Big Televisions from both Steam and PS4 stores”, Deery wrote on X.

“I’vemade it free to download here. Thanks for all your support.”

When asked by followers why the game was being delisted, he says he was only told the reason was down to “business changes”.

The game will remain on both Steam and the PlayStation Store for now, but Deery says it will be pulled “within the next few weeks”. He says he will continue to receive royalties on any copies of the game sold until it’s delisted.

Deery also seemingly doesn’t want the situation to escalate – when one follower replied to his message on X with “we hate you Warner Bros”, Deery replied: “Chill out.”

“Explore the inner workings of deserted factories in search of data cassettes that contain boundless virtual worlds,” reads the game’s description.

“Collect more tapes and explore more worlds and you’ll soon discover new methods of traversal and control that will take you farther than you’d ever expect.”
