How To Get The Mechanic's Best Friend In Fallout 76

The Mechanic's Best Friend is a legendary melee weapon you can get in when you complete certain challenges presented in the game. This powerful tool has special effects that make it far stronger than many other kinds of close-range weapons. However, you can only obtain this item in Survival mode, so you have to be prepared for more threats to your character.

Among the best weapons in , the Mechanic's Best Friend is the most similar to the Pipe Wrench since it is a legendary variant of that pre-existing melee tool. This one-handed weapon does not require ammo or any other resource to use for as long as you want. This makes the weapon reliable against many dangers in the wasteland if you're running low on materials for your favorite guns.

The only way to get the Mechanic's Best Friend melee weapon is to destroy four different types of robot enemies in Survival mode throughout your adventure. The kinds of robots you must eliminate are an Assaultron, a Protectron, a Sentry Bot, and a Mr. Handy or Mr. Gutsy robot. This task was tied to a special event challenge within the game that still exists in the mode where enemies are present.

Assaultrons in are found in abundance in a few areas on your map, including Watoga and the Whitespring Resort locations. Protectrons are also found here, as well as a few Mr. Handy robots that can be destroyed for the challenge objective. While Watoga has plenty of hostile robots you can fight, the ones at Whitespring Resort are friendly and won't attack unless you provoke them first.

The Hornwright Estate and Grafton Steel Underground are other locations where you can find robot enemies to fight in. Sentry Bots are perhaps the hardest to track down, but those who explore The Whitespring Bunker may be able to find some dangerous robots they can eliminate. Another event called also hosts many types of robots for you to defeat toward the challenge's completion.
