Hogwarts Legacy Fans Start Petition to Save Sequel

A new petition asks Warner Bros. to not make the unannounced sequel to Hogwarts Legacy a live service game. Hogwarts Legacy was a massive success, breaking records at the time of its release and becoming the best-selling game of 2023. Considering how successful Hogwarts Legacy was, it's easy to see how many fans are hoping that the sequel builds on it and delivers something even better. Unfortunately, fans are already anxious about Hogwarts Legacy 2, and it hasn't even been announced yet.

Many fans are concerned about future Warner Bros. games after it was confirmed that the company would be doubling-down on live-service games. Warner Bros. sticking with live-service games has puzzled many, as the company enjoyed incredible success with Hogwarts Legacy, while its Suicide Squad live-service game has been a flop. Regardless, Warner Bros. is committed to a live-service future, and fans are worried that this move will ruin Hogwarts Legacy 2.

Concerned Hogwarts Legacy fans have created a petition on Change.org that seeks to stop the unannounced Hogwarts Legacy 2 from being a live-service game. 780 people have signed the petition at the time of this writing. Unfortunately, even if this Hogwarts Legacy 2 petition blows up and gets thousands more signatures, it's unlikely that it will have any impact on Warner Bros.' future plans.

If a Hogwarts Legacy sequel does go the live-service route, one has to wonder how exactly it will work. It's possible that the game will focus on giving away paid DLC cosmetics, but it's also possible that the live-service elements will see it morph from a single-player action-RPG to some kind of multiplayer-focused game. On one hand, many fans would jump at the chance to explore Hogwarts castle with their friends, but on the other hand, this would risk alienating the many Harry Potter enthusiasts that turned out for the original Hogwarts Legacy.
