Fable gets a gameplay trailer and a release window

A new trailer for Fable has been released, this time showing some gameplay.

After announcing the game back in 2020, Xbox showed nothing untila new cinematic trailer emerged last year.

Now another trailer has been released, showing a mix of cinematics and gameplay.

It also reveals that the game will be released in 2025, on Xbox Series X/S and PC (with Game Pass availability on day one).

“What does it mean to be a hero?” Xbox’s description for the game reads.

“In last year’s trailer, that question was answered by Dave, a gardener-turned-giant with a chip on his shoulder. This year, we get a much darker take from Humphry, played by the British comedy actor Matt King.

“Humphry was once Albion’s greatest Hero, but those glory days are long gone. In Fable, Humphry will be forced out of retirement when a mysterious figure from his past threatens the very existence of Albion.”

Developer Playground Games (which is usually best known for the Forza Horizon series of open-world racing games) has also confirmed that it’s been collaborating with Eidos Montreal on the game.

Back in 2021, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said players should be confident in the quality of the game given Playground’s pedigree.

“The only thing I can really say about Fable is, seeing the pedigree of the team and Playground, and where they set the bar for themselves in building a game – I think that showed with the Forza Horizon 5 preview that they had,” Spencer said.

“I think people should just take confidence in that [studio director] Gavin [Raeburn] and the team there have that same level of focus on doing something amazing with an IP that we know is really important to a lot of Xbox fans, so we can’t wait to get to show more, but the team is just amazing.”
