Explore the Umbral Abyss in Age of Wonders 4: Eldritch Realms, Out Now

The Umbral Abyss opens in Age of Wonders 4: Eldritch Realms, a new expansion out now for Paradox Interactive and Triumph Studios’ Age of Wonders 4X turn-based strategy game.

The Umbral Abyss is the expansion’s central feature, opening up a new layer of the map where untold horrors await players brave enough to explore. The expansion also adds two new forms, 3 new tomes, a new event system, and more.

A new ruler type, the Eldritch Sovereigns, are available for play and they feature a unique Thrall spell casting mechanic. Players who choose to play as Eldritch Sovereigns can pick between dominating their enemies, manipulating flesh, or harnessing wild, chaotic magic.

Cosmic Happenings allows for mini-crises to threaten all rulers in a match simultaneously with a series of events featuring unique maps, units, and mechanics. Players who are successful at resolving these crises will earn powerful rewards.

The launch of the expansion also brings a new free Mystic Update. This update introduces an AI takeover mechanic, rework of the game’s Mystic culture systems, and offers plenty of quality of life improvements.

Age of Wonders 4: Eldritch Realms is available now on PlayStation 5, GeForce Now, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
