EverQuest II Origins Server Anashti Sul Opens, Taking Us Back to 2006

EverQuest II’s new Origins server, Anashti Sul, is now open. The opening was part of the announcements at Fippy Fest last week, and now you can go back to 2006 with the newest server.

If you really want the old school MMO feeling, or maybe you were around and miss the 2006 version of EverQuest II, here it is. The server is named after the goddess Anashti Sul, who was banished to the Void by the other gods of Norrath after she introduced undeath into the world. She later escaped. With that lore in mind, the server bears her name “in the honor of what she was and what she has become!”.

You will have to have an All Access membership in order to play on this server. As for content unlocks and the ruleset, this is what awaits. The tentative schedule is four months ofShattered Lands, then two months of The Bloodline Chronicles, two more of The Splitpaw Saga, then Desert of Flames for an as-yet undetermined time. Future content will be determined and announced later.

In terms of rules and environments, it really is 2006 all over again, complete with original 2006 quests. There's no spell research. Freeport and Queynos are back to their old selves again, with their old school looks and functionality back. There are no persistent instances, no tradeskills subcombines, the server is not free trade, there are no holiday events, and all of the bosses you find will have their original  stats and buffs. Additionally, there is  only a small and limited marketplace.  This server is actually on its own design depot so it's completely separate from any of the live servers. This is the first time the team has done this.

These are just some of the 2006-era features you can expect if you roll a character on this server. It is a new challenge for some and a welcome home for others.
