Dragon's Dogma 2 Gets Roasted At Launch For "Greedy" Surprise Addition

After over a decade of waiting, is finally in players' hands but the game's launch has unfortunately been marred by the surprise reveal that it contains a wealth of microtransactions. The original game in Capcom's fantasy RPG franchise garnered plenty of fans in the years after its release for offering a unique action experience unlike anything else at the time. In the 12 years since its launch, the community begged for a sequel but now that it's finally here, players are more frustrated than excited.

Over on 's Steam page, the game is being bombarded by negative reviews due to two primary reasons: An abundance of performance issues on PC and the inclusion of microtransactions, a controversial form of monetization that Capcom didn't reveal until the RPG had already launched. At the time of writing, boasts over 8,000 reviews, of which only 40% are positive. Many of the available microtransactions are for functions that players consider essential to enjoying the game like editing the appearance of a character, or fast traveling around the world.

While it's worth noting that many of the items that can be purchased with microtransactions can be collected in the game itself, the community has noted that they're either extremely rare or require a great deal of grinding to acquire.
