Star Wars KOTOR Report Suggests Good News For Xbox

The upcoming remake of may still be in development but a recent report suggests it may launch on more consoles than previously expected. Following the announcement that Bioware's classic RPG set in a galaxy far, far away would be remade for modern audiences, the community was disappointed to learn that it would be released as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive and would later make the jump to PC. Despite this initially disheartening news, Xbox Series X|S owners may not need to fear any longer.

Posted on X (formerly Twitter), reputable insider and video game journalist Jeff Grubb commented that following many hitches in 's development,Sony "," suggesting that the game may no longer be locked in as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

It's not a guarantee that the remake will arrive on Xbox day-and-date with the PS version, but knowing that Sony Interactive Entertainment, which was initially publishing the game, makes console exclusivity much less likely. Developer Saber Interactive has yet to comment on the report.

The announcement that was being remade managed to light the game's community on fire. The reveal that the game wouldn't launch on Xbox came as a crushing blow, especially since the original and its direct sequel are still playable on Xbox Series X|S thanks to backward compatibility. Developed by Aspyr, it was the studio's biggest undertaking yet after years of working on ports and remasters of older games.
