Black Myth: Wukong Originally Featured Multiplayer, Game Code Reveals

At some point during development, Black Myth: Wukong featured online multiplayer, as revealed in a new video shared online earlier this week.

The video, which was put together by Outrageous Dong Chai, shows the references to the scrapped online multiplayer mode that can still be found in the game's code. While the entire video is only available in Chinese, there's no doubt that the user's findings are related to online multiplayer with options like creating and joining rooms, role configuration, and more. As Black Myth: Wukong is getting expanded in the future to further extend the title's life and increase its sales from the already impressive 18 million figure, which was achieved in only two weeks, the addition of a multiplayer mode would extend the game's life even further than a few simple expansions could.

Black Myth: Wukong is now available on PC and PlayStation 5 worldwide and will launch on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on a yet-to-be-determined release date. You can learn more about the game by checking out my review.

Black Myth: Wukong stands out as one of the strongest debut games released in recent times. While not groundbreaking in any way, it masterfully blends elements from several popular franchises to deliver an engaging action RPG experience that ranks just below the very best in the genre. Although stuttering issues and minor gameplay flaws hold it back slightly, these shouldn't deter any action RPG or action game fan from picking it up. The Journey to the West has rarely been this enjoyable.
