Accurate GTA 6 Trailer Is The Closest Thing We'll Get To A Real-Life Grand Theft Auto

It's a good thing that the woes of the modern world aren't quite as extreme as 's exaggerated take, but it's still fascinating to imagine a real-life version of Based on the reveal trailer, the series is far closer to photorealism now than ever before, and it's come a long way since the top-down view of the earliest entries or the chunky 3D introduced in Even so, there's still a ways to go, but a fan project bridges the gap in a way that the games never can.

YouTuber Andrew Levitt translated the trailer to a whole new dimension with a live-action recreation, and the results are impressively accurate. Since 's fictional Leonida is based on Florida, it's possible to visit a number of real-life locations that serve as obvious inspirations for the ones shown in the trailer.

The recreation does just that, matching shots as closely as possible to elevate the teaser to the ultimate in realism. Levitt even has actors in place of 's characters, and splices in some of the real-life viral moments that inspired the trailer and its more absurd shots.

The process of making the real-life trailer would obviously be an involved one, and Andrew Levitt documents some of it in another video available on his YouTube channel that acts as a vlog of the trip to Florida to film it. There's a lot of creativity and talent on display, from the well-matched drone shots to the minor risks taken in recreating some of the clips. The process also involved some real tedium, like driving five hours to get a one-second clip of the Florida Keys, but it's hard to argue that the finished product wasn't worth the effort.

Not everything is exactly one-for-one, obviously, but some of the substitutions actually make the live-action trailer even more memorable. One notable example is staging a convenience store robbery with bananas in place of guns, a decision made because the stand-in for protagonist Lucia works in education. There's also a great shot of a man in a chicken hat and a neon Garfield shirt
