A video game based on The Batman film universe is in development, it’s claimed

A video game set in the world of DC’s The Batman film franchise is in development, it’s claimed.

According to Puck News, a game is currently being developed based on The Batman, the Matt Reeves-directed film which saw Robert Pattinson star in the main role.

The report claims that AT&T tried to sell the Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment video games unit for $4 billion in 2020 but it was then deemed “too valuable to unload”.

It claims that when David Zaslav took over as CEO, he was advised to offload Warner’s games division.

However, Zaslav reportedly sees the games unit as strategic, with the report claiming that “the various WBD divisions are beginning to collaborate more closely on properties like the upcoming Penguin HBO show and game, both seeded in the 2022 The Batman movie”.

A sequel to The Batman is currently in development.

Pattinson’s suit from The Batman was added to Batman Arkham Knight last year.

Batman: Arkham Shadow was announced in May, when it was confirmed to be a Meta Quest 3 exclusive.

It’s the second VR game to feature the Batman: Arkham name, after Batman: Arkham VR, which was released alongside the original PlayStation VR headset.

The VR title, which will be released this October, was shown off during Gamescom Opening Night Live earlier this month.
