One of the most popular ways to play is the card-collecting Diamond Dynasty mode, which puts players in the driver's seat of crafting their dream baseball team from current and past athletes. Even worse, they were found at the beginning of 's seasons, so players ended up just using the same cards over and over.

This year, is spacing things out better, with no 99s at launch. The highest rated card for Season 1 will be a 91 OVR, and better cards will gradually show up while moving through the seasons. This change will help make 99s much more special, by making them more challenging to obtain. The gradual climb to better cards will also be better for encouraging continued play, always able to reach a little higher.
