You May Want To Hold Off On Getting Dragon’s Dogma 2 On PC (For Now)

Capcom's highly anticipated fantasy RPG, is finally due to be released on March 22, 2024, more than a decade after the release of the original game, but PC players may want to hold off on purchasing the game for now. Recent reports indicate that the game experiences severe frame rate performance problems on the platform.

Capcom confirmed this was the case when responding to , with a company representative saying, ""

Director Hideaki Itsuno previously stated that would be released with an uncapped framerate on all consoles, and reiterated this in an interview with , stating that will feature one singular mode that's on by default instead of featuring multiple visual modes that make players choose between a Graphics mode and Performance mode like so many console releases do. This singular visual mode does have an uncapped framerate, but Itsuno states that it's ""

Screen Rant's own review of addressed some of the clunkiness on PlayStation 5, pointing out that one of the main performance issues seemed to be with NPCs and items popping in randomly, especially in the cities, rather than major frame rate issues. With this in mind, it seems like while neither experience seems particularly ideal, the title does seem to run better on consoles.

This news will likely be disappointing for PC players, especially considering the kind of hardware they have in some builds that surpasses those on consoles. Fortunately, Capcom is currently addressing the issue and looking to improve in the future, so hopefully, players won't have to wait too long before the game runs smoothly on all devices.
