's combat heavily revolves around its three Staff Stances, but which one is the best? Since the staff is the only weapon in the game, it is important that each stance feels different. This goal is accomplished well as each Stance has its strengths and weaknesses. The latter can be supplemented through 's best spells collected throughout the action RPG.

Another bonus of the staff is how it can transform as bosses are defeated. Some bosses will unlock a new form the staff can take which will boost its attack, critical hit rate, and give it bonus effects. However, these bonus effects are often tuned to a specific playstyle, making it necessary to play into or ignore it completely.

One of the amazing things about is that none of the Staff Stances are «the best.» Each has its own areas where it outshines the other two, but not to any wide extent. Smash Stance is the best choice for offense, whereas Pillar Stance sacrifices a bit of offense for high defense. The Thrust Stance is a blend of the two, where it will deal considerable damage, sometimes on par with Smash Stance, and offer some defense for those who can time its movement properly. In this regard,the best stance in the game is whatever suits the individual player the best.

In a way, it is also beneficial to pick the right stance for the right fight. Some bosses that are easier to read and dodge would be best for the Smash Stance where damage can be maximized. In contrast, bosses that are hard to read or have successive attacks would be better with Pillar Stance to increase survivability.
