The First Descendant: How Luna Compares To Other Characters - Playstyle, Skills, and Synergies

The developers of managed to sneak in an update on July 31, 2024, which added a host of new content like a new intercept battle, an ultimate weapon, several quality-of-life improvements, Ultimate Valby, and one of the first completely new Descendants since the official release, Luna. Luna is called an «entertainer,» but her concerts are quite deadly to the Volgus and Colossi who oppose her. With that in mind, Luna adds another Descendant to the roster who primarily plays a support role, acting much like a bard.

Luna brings the party with her wherever she goes, and she should bring her party members too. That is because three of her four active parties buff her and surrounding players, while the fourth essentially amplifies those effects. This makes it clear that Luna will synergize well with any other Descendant, so some of 's characters will benefit more than others.

There are a multitude of characters in The First Descendant that players can unlock which allows them to find the right playstyle for them.

Those who have played Lúcio in will feel right at home with Luna's run-and-gun playstyle. While she does not gain active boosts from sprinting like Bunny, Luna does best when sticking with the rest of the party so they can benefit most from her buffs. This constant movement can conflict slightly with her other mechanics. Because Luna's skills and attacks are amplified when she plays to the rhythm of her music, running around frequently may make it difficult to latch onto the beat.

The key to success with Luna is keeping a close eye on the condition of herself and her allies. Just as Luna dances to her music, the player must perform a dance of managing the MP meter and Luna's Inspiration Gauge to keep the buffs coming. Situational awareness will also allow Luna to take advantage of battlefield conditions, switching to damage buffs to start fights or restorative buffs during lulls in the fighting.
