Tekken 8 PS5 File Size Revealed

Bandai Namco revealed the file size for Tekken 8's PS5 version, which will take up less space than the PC version will. Tekken 8 is one of the most anticipated games to launch in 2024, following Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1, and other impressive fighting games that were released in 2023. Bandai Namco's eighth round of the King of Iron Fist tournament boasts an impressive 32-character roster, featuring returning characters like Jun Kazama and Leroy Smith, along with brand-new fighters like Azucena and Reina.

With Tekken 8 being a next-gen AAA game, the system requirements for the fighter have also been bumped up for PC users. For example, one of last year's most notable fighting games, Street Fighter 6, required 60 GB of available space on PC in order to play the game. Tekken 8 has a similarly massive file size, though different sizes can be seen depending on which platform gamers are playing the game on.

According to the Twitter account PlayStationSize, Tekken 8 requires approximately 80 GB of free space available on the PS5. This is a 20 GB difference when compared to Tekken 8's PC version, which requires a whopping 100 GB of storage in order to play. As of this writing, it's unclear if the Xbox Series X/S version of the game will also only require 80 GB of storage. Players can preload Tekken 8 on PS5 starting on January 23, 2024, at 11 PM UTC.

Tekken 8's large storage requirement could be due to a number of reasons. Aside from the usual HD textures required for the game's detailed character models and stages, the game's large size could be due to its single-player story mode. Tekken 8's story mode is looking to be larger than the prior entry's, promising a longer playtime and potentially more elaborate cutscenes. The other game modes could also be a contributing factor to the title's size. Why it takes up less space on the PS5 is unclear, but it's likely due to Bandai Namco compressing certain aspects of Tekken 8 for this version's release.

For reference, Tekken
