Stardew Valley: How to Find the Big Tree (& What It's For)

Amongst the fresh content included in the new 1.6 update of , farmers can meet a new neighbor in the case of the Big Tree. This new feature of Pelican Town and its surrounding area is a large, monolithic tree in the Cindersap Forest. Finding it can be tricky, and knowing what to do once you've found it can also be unclear.

The 1.6 update has introduced players to new festivals, new hidden weapons, and a new farm type that has delighted new and returning players alike. Many of these updates are only known if players pour through the patch notes, and with so manyplayers dedicated to exhausting everything this game has to offer, its secrets will be found.Finding the Big Tree is on the simpler side of secrets, but it's no less exciting.

Thanks to its size, the Big Tree is pretty obvious. To find this arboreal addition to the Cindersap Forest,head south from your farm and look west between Marnie's farm and the Wizard Tower. A gap in the fence allows you to walk up and interact with the Big Tree.

There's nothing you can do with the Big Tree immediately; maybe you can smoke some fish and make money while you wait. Eventually, after your farmer goes to sleep, you will hear a lot of wind. Once this night passes, go to check on the Tree in the morning.

The Big Tree has fallen over in the windstorm, leaving the Giant Stump behind! Say goodbye to the majestic tree, but fear not; thestory of the Stump left behindis just beginning. Once the Big Tree falls, you will receive the quest which asks you to collect 100 Hardwood. But what could it be for?

The hardwood will be used to build a home for your new neighbors, the Raccoon vendor, and his family. After they're settled in, the Raccoon will start giving you bundles to complete. Like the Community Center bundles, these bundles require you to farm, forage, and craft the needed items and return them to the Raccoon. Once you've done them all, a shop will open.

The Raccoon's shop sells many helpful items that can't be found in many
