Star Wars Outlaws New Ray Tracing Comparison Highlights How RTXDI Tanks Performance On An RTX 4080

A new Star Wars Outlaws comparison video was shared online, highlighting the visual improvements ray tracing brings to the game as well as the hit to performance.

The video, put together by MxBenchmarkPC, does a great job highlighting how the game's visuals are improved with ray tracing and RTXDI, RTX Dynamic Illumination. As always, the performance cost of ray tracing can be quite heavy at all resolutions, and it is especially true for RTXDI, which seems more like technology that only future GPUs will be able to run with acceptable performance. At 4K resolution, with NVIDIA DLSS 3.7 at the Balanced setting and Frame Generation, the game runs below 60 FPS most of the time with RTXDI on an RTX 4080, which is quite telling, considering how the NVIDIA GPU is still among the best GPUs available on the market.

While running Star Wars Outlaws at high resolution with all bells and whistles on will require a powerful system, those who plan to play the game at lower resolutions should be able to do so without too many issues, as the detailed system requirements shared earlier this month are rather reasonable.

Star Wars Outlaws launches on August 30th on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. It is already available for all those who purchased the Gold and Ultimate Editions.
