Max Payne RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod Demo New Update Further Improves Visuals

A new version of the Max Payne RTX Remix path tracing mod demo is now available for download, introducing further visual improvements.

Version 0.5, which can be downloaded from here, removes the normal maps from the main character model's head, face, arms, and hands, as well as from surfaces to make them flat, improving how they look with path tracing. Additionally, the new version reworks lighting throughout to make everything brighter and introduces some experimental physical lighting to muzzle flashes and a few more changes over the previous version.

The Max Payne series is getting closer to its official revival with the remakes of the first and second entries in the series. Announced two years ago, Remedy Entertainment confirmed last month that the remake combining the two games has finally entered full production, with the current goal being to have the game in an early functional state from beginning to end. As such, it may not be long before we finally see how Remedy will modernize two of the most popular games of all time. Besides working on this project, Remedy is also working on the second entry in the Control series and the second Alan Wake 2 DLC, the Lake House expansion.

The original Max Payne is available for purchase on Steam.
